Valuing our Team

At our club we value the dedication and outstanding performance from our team and believe that the smallest of gestures to the bigger monetary rewards are just as important as each other.  To celebrate our wins with the team and recognise team members that go above and beyond or otherwise known as we call it ….our “go the extra Mile” program values our staff that literally do that ….. go the extra mile in any part of their role. This could be from jumping around departments to help and support the team on a busy Saturday night or putting in that extra effort to ensure our bars a sparkling at the end of the night.

Every year at our very popular Christmas party, we announce the winner of ‘Employee of the Year’ and present Service Awards to loyal long-standing team members. Nominations for our ‘Employee of the Year’ are open to everyone as we believe it is important for each and every one of us to recognise our peers that have gone above and beyond their role during the year.

Announcing the winner on the night is always a nail-biting moment as it is a huge acknowledgment and achievement of the staff member that wins!

A significant monetary prize is awarded and a photo is placed of the person on our wall of fame in our Reception department for all who enters and exits the club to see. We value the work our team does as our Club would simply not run if they did not dedicate themselves to their roles.

Operations Manager

While studying a Bachelor of Business and Commerce at University, I got my first bar job at my local Club! From there, I continued to work as a bartender throughout my degree and gained a management role after I graduated. I have been a Duty Manager & Beverage Manager – before commencing at Cronulla RSL as Operations Manager.

I simply fell into hospitality – it was never a career or industry goal, however while working and studying, it highlighted that BIG CLUBS are BIG BUSINESSES, and all components of Operations, HR, Logistics, Administration, Marketing, Finance, Compliance, etc function in the hospitality industry. And – it’s fun!

I joined the team at Cronulla RSL as Operations Manager in 2015. Throughout my time here my role has grown and developed to take on different responsibilities, departments etc. Every day is different. Every day is a challenge. Every day is a learning opportunity.

Cronulla RSL gives everyone here the opportunity to explore new ideas and opportunities in a fantastic venue with a great team! We’re not afraid to try new things and to change.

I am driven by innovation, hospitality, and experiences. Every experience at Cronulla RSL should be memorable, and we should continue to evolve and change with the times.

I love learning new and exciting facets of the business, in the industry and the wider business scope!

Hello there!

My name is Tom Campbell and I’d like to tell you about my experience working at Cronulla RSL as a bartender for the past 4.5 years. First and foremost, what has stood out to me the most is the team at the RSL. The team have been considerably supportive during my time here. When I first started, I was apprehensive about working the bar. Serving alcohol to patrons in a timely and safe manner felt significantly haphazard and overwhelming as I hadn’t worked in a bar previously. The team leaders and managers on shift however eased me into this role. Not only making me aware of on-the-job requirements of serving alcohol responsibly but helped me develop some key customer service and engagement tips that make service run smoothly and enjoyable as well. Enjoyable because you become familiar with the patrons visiting us from the community.

The team was extremely patient with me when I started out which helped ease any quarrels that I had or arose during a shift. I do know that my time at Cronulla RSL has benefited me as a person due to the development of these essential work and life skills. Customer service and engagement comes with its set of challenges no matter where you work. The standout at this place of work is if you come across a challenging engagement, there’s five more patrons in line that will appreciate your service. Managers are always there in a timely manner to assist you if needed.

I’m now working as a Gaming Attendant, coming from a time where I was apprehensive about even pouring a beer. With a supportive and understanding team, you will fit in well. Whether you’re looking for a career in hospitality or working your way through university, the environment is accommodating to your lifestyle. Goodluck with your application and I look forward to working with you!

Customer Relations Manager

My Cronulla RSL journey began back in 2017 when I had just completed my HSC. Cronulla RSL was initially a casual bartender job to get me through university whilst studying a Bachelor of Primary Education however very quickly I realised my passion was the Club industry and deferred my studies. I immediately enjoyed the culture, the staff and the customers, knowing this was the place for me and I never looked back! Throughout my time at Cronulla RSL I have been fortunate enough to work my way through a variety of different departments including Beverage & Gaming Attendant, Reception, Event Sales, Stock Control & Purchasing and Marketing. I also completed a 2 year Trainee Manager program where I completed 3 month rotations in every department,  learnt on the job fundamentals and was mentored by department managers.

I am currently the Customer Relations Manager and love coming to work everyday! My role includes managing staff day to day, responding to feedback, recruiting staff and ensuring our customers are always having an experience reflective of our Cronulla RSL values.

Cronulla RSL has been so valuable in my career development and personal growth and I am thankful for the countless opportunities I have had.
